Tasting notes

This Marlborough New Zealand Riesling displays aromas of juicy pineapple and lime, beautifully balanced with hints of nectarine and honeysuckle. The acidity and minerality makes for a crisp and refreshing white wine with a long lingering finish. Slightly off dry and very easy to drink.

Background

Allan Scott Family Winemakers cellar is situated on Jackson road, across the vineyards of Cloudy Bay. Allan Scott’s vineyards are largely planted on the stony, free draining mid-Wairau Valley river flats. The vineyards are sustainably managed, and with the care given during the growing season produce some of the world’s greatest wines. Produced from the “Moorlands” block, which directly surrounds the Allan Scott winery and contains some of the oldest Riesling vines in Marlborough New Zealand. Due to their maturity this vineyard consistently produces quality fruit year after year. As in other years, harvest occurred in the coolness of the early morning. After pressing and the cold settling, the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks. During the ferment the wine was tasted daily until a desirable residual sugar level was reached, after which fermentation was promptly stopped. Allan Scott Riesling is guaranteed to improve for many years if carefully cellared.
