Originally established by Dr Andrew Pirie, great wines are made in the vineyard and it is the exceptional fruit grown at the Kayena Vineyard that forms the cornerstone of the Tamar Ridge and Devil’s Corner range of wines. Located on the western banks of the Tamar River, forty kilometres north of Launceston, the Kayena Vineyard is planted to a range of cool climate varieties
Fresh, crisp and appealing with lots of zesty, citrus lime and lemon fruit. The palate is long and well defined, boasting grapefruit and 'wet stone' minerality. The finish is long and shows crisp acidity.
Ripe fruit and passionfruit comes through the nose and on to the palate. Overall a wine that is bursting with gentle, mouthfilling fruit flavours while leading to a finish that is crisp and refreshing.
A strongly perfumed Pinot style evocative of black cherries with hints of violets and even a touch of ginger spice. The finish combines fine tannins and firm acidity but the overall impression is of the soft lingering flavours making this a very easy drinking style.
