Buy Gin Online

Gin chin! Gin has had a real resurgence over the last decade or two. A spirit which used to be confined to the back of liquor cabinets, it can now be found on menus in bars around the world and in the homes of people of all ages. Enjoy it with some classic Indian tonic water or in your favourite cocktail, from a Negroni to a Tom Collins and so many more.

So when you get down to it, what exactly is gin? There are some strict regulations that have to be adhered to. It’s a neutral spirit that has to be distilled from a natural ingredient: examples of these are barley, wheat or potatoes. To be classified as such, the predominant flavour has to be juniper. Many producers often add other botanical ingredients such as cardamom or coriander seeds to complement the base flavour.

Distilleries have popped up across the UK in the 21st century and we are privileged to have a stunning selection of  gin and gin liqueurs on offer online for our loyal customers to enjoy. Some of them are local to us in South Wales and others are further afield, but all of which are available from our online shop.

If that wasn’t enough to whet your whistle, we also have delightful collections of other spirits including whiskey, rum and vodka.

What are the different types of gin?

Gin comes in many forms, it is a truly versatile spirit that it’s no wonder it can be found in a whole host of cocktails or even enjoyed on its own with just a squeeze of lemon or lime.

London Dry Gin

London dry gin is perhaps the most famous of them all. Typically London dry has strong flavours of juniper, and occasionally some subtle citrus or other aromatic undertones. That’s why a squeeze of lemon or lime goes so well in a classic G&T! Unlike other spirits and wines, London dry gin does not actually have to be made in London. The name is because historically that’s where the distilleries were located, but it can be made anywhere.

Gin Liqueur

Gin liqueurs differ from traditional gin. Firstly, they have a high concentration of added sugar, which makes them much sweeter and more syrupy in texture. Juniper does not have to be the main flavour in liqueurs, and will usually have an ABV of 20 to 30%. This is opposed to traditional gins which have at least 37.5% of pure alcohol in the total volume of liquid in each bottle.
