Limes and oranges and hints of botrytis are more evident in this wine with some great mouth filling citrus and apple flavours on the palate. The wine finishes with an easy drinking sweetness that gives length and structure. Serve chilled. Great match with hard cheese or seafood.

Description

Allan believes Riesling is one of the forgotten noble varieties. It ages extremely well, has plenty of fruit and matches a wide range of food.

Generations Riesling comes off our Moorlands block, planted in 1978. The vineyard is pruned to two canes and extensively crop thinned to bring this notoriously late ripening fruit harvest closer to the end of March. Although not overbearing, we encourage some botrytis in the vineyard which gives the wine extra orange and spice characters.

Once harvested the clean juice is inoculated and goes through a very cool ferment (8⁰C) in tank. Fermentation is then stopped by drastically dropping the temperature to retain some residual sweetness,

ALLAN SCOTT – UK AGENCY EXCLUSIVE

Our friend, Allan Scott is one of the iconic figures in the short history of the wine trade in Marlborough. As a viticulturalist, he was deeply involved in the first plantings of vineyards there for the two leading companies of the time, Corbans and Montana. In 1990, he launched his own venture, using grapes from his own vineyards on the prestigious Jacksons road, opposite those of Cloudy Bay.

They are a Kiwi family operated business who are passionate about their products to ensure you have a memorable experience with each wine, whatever your taste. The Scott name is on the bottle, so the family stands behind everything they make.

He produces a selection of aromatic varietals to complement his already sought after sauvignon Blanc and Pinot noir. More recently he established the Scott Base winery in Central Otago. A true family affair, Allan still runs the company alongside Catherine, his wife and their children.

In the 2011 Air New Zealand Wine Awards the Hounds Pinot noir received a Gold medal, and Allan was rewarded for his wine industry by being given the order of merit for his services to the new Zealand wine trade. Yet still he pioneers onwards – such is his passion for wine.
