Why take a WSET wine qualification?
There are many, very valuable reasons to take the qualifications.
The WSET qualifications provide candidates with the skills and expertise to build their own world of knowledge. For example, by understanding characteristics of grape varieties, factors that influence wine style and tasting using the Systematic Approach to Tasting wine, the quality of wine can be assessed in an objective way. New types and styles of wine are tasted which broadens the range of wines to be discovered by the candidates who often want to then share these new personal favourites with friends, family and customers! This all enhances the experience of choosing wines to buy at stores and restaurants. Understanding the principles of food and wine pairing can really increase the enjoyment of eating and drinking wine. The study of wine is a voyage of discovery that is fascinating and never ending.
As customers become more knowledgeable and savvy about wine, spirits and service, it is becoming increasingly important for the trade to meet this demand. The WSET qualifications can significantly contribute to career development for Hospitality professionals.
