The Lunaka Carmenere/Syrah is an intense dark purple red in the glass.
On the nose it has attractive dark fruits, ripe cherries, spices, and dark chocolate.
On the palette is has a smooth, supple entry and silky tannins. The ripe Carmenere & Syrah flavours slowly fill the palate. Well balanced oak spices. Complex. Sweet long finish
The Carmenere for this wine was sourced from vineyards in San Jose, Colchagua Valley. The vineyards are located on the slopes of the hill, being a very warm site, which allows for the full ripening. These conditions produce grapes with silky tannins and ripe red fruit aromas. The Syrah comes from a cooler coastal area from Cachapoal Valley, which produces lots of fresh fruit, and a nice acidity
Fermentation was in stainless steel tanks and lasts between 7 to 10 days. During fermentation the fermenting juice was pumped over the skin cap three times a day. After alcoholic fermentation, there was post-fermentation maceration on skins between 7 to 14 days, before pressing. The wine is kept with American and French oak staves for 4 months.
Enjoy with a herb-crusted rack of lamb or roasted grilled Mediterranean vegetables.
