Georgia is the world’s oldest center of viticulture, with winemaking dating back 8,000 years. Archaeological findings reveal that the first wine was created by the people of the South Caucasus around 6,000 BC using clay vessels called qvevri, earning Georgia the title of the “cradle of wine.”

Cultural Significance꞉ Winemaking is deeply rooted in Georgian culture, symbolizing

hospitality and spirituality. Generations have preserved the authenticity of Georgian wines through traditional techniques.

Diverse Terroirs꞉

Georgia’s unique microclimate and topography support the cultivation of around 500 grape varieties. The country is renowned for qvevri wines, also known as orange or amber wines, produced by fermenting grapes in clay vessels buried underground. This ancient method, recognized by UNESCO, highlights Georgia’s rich winemaking heritage.
