Buy Sauvignon Blanc Wine Online
Sauvignon Blanc is a classic of the wine world. Its homeland is in France, but it is now grown worldwide. Sauvignon Blanc grapes can be made into wines of many styles, but the most popular are aromatic, fresh, and dry.
The name comes from the French word ‘sauvage’ meaning wild. It has been grown and produced in France for more than 500 years, but has had a recent resurgence thanks to being introduced to New Zealand in the 1970s. In fact, Sauvignon Blanc is now NZ’s most planted grape. It can now be found everywhere from Chile and California to South Africa and Australia.
We are proud to have a huge selection of Sauvignon Blanc wines available for purchase, including Spanish, and French.

Where is Sauvignon Blanc produced?
Sauvignon Blanc’s homeland is France, but excellent styles are now produced the world over. These are just some of the regions where you can find fantastic Sauvignon Blanc.
Loire Valley, France: The Loire Valley is the focal point of Sauvignon Blanc production, and that’s both in quality and quantity. The climate of the valley is well-suited to slowly ripening on the vine, which allows each grape more time to develop a perfect balance of sugar and acidity levels.
New Zealand: NZ has put its own excellent stamp on Sauvignon Blanc production. The best ones tend to be unoaked, and combine tropical flavours with lively acidity.
South Africa: Many popular regions for producing this wine in South Africa are cooled by the oceans, so the grapes can benefit from a maritime climate. Others enjoy a cool climate thanks to altitude, combined with a strong sea breeze.
Is Sauvignon Blanc sweet or dry?
The majority of Sauvignon Blanc wines are produced in a medium-bodied, dry style. These are refreshing, easy to drink and with elevated acidity and moderate alcohol levels. These dry Sauvignon Blancs are usually fermented in steel which contributes to their crisp texture.
Sweeter styles of Sauvignon Blanc are rare, and the most famous examples are probably Sauternes and Barsac, dessert wines produced in Bordeaux. These are delicious, decadent wines that can be aged for a very long time.
What kind of Sauvignon Blanc does Fine Wines Direct UK offer?
We’re delighted to stock an array of exceptional Sauvignon Blanc wines from around the world. These are just a few of our current favourites.
Allan Scott Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough New Zealand 2020
This citrusy and intense Sauvignon Blanc has been lovingly produced by the Allan Scott family in Marlborough, New Zealand. It is a real category benchmark: fresh, zesty and juicy, a delightful herbaceous character that is balanced with zesty passionfruit and a dry finish. Beautiful on its own, or try it with fresh seafood or a classic plate of fish and chips.
Marques de Caceres Excellens Sauvignon Blanc, Rueda, Spain 2020
Rueda is a leading wine region in Spain, with its continental climate making the tropical notes more apparent on the nose and on the palate. The grapes are collected during the cooler nights, in order to strengthen their characteristics. This gorgeous Sauvignon Blanc is vibrant with tropical fruits, citrus and melon. Try it with shellfish or chicken with a white sauce.
Obvio Sauvignon Blanc, Rio Negro, Patagonia, Argentina 2020
This Sauvignon Blanc has a light greenish-yellow colour. Expect an intense bouquet on the nose, with notes of mango, pineapple and passionfruit. On the palate the drinker can enjoy an impressive attack: mellow, sweet and harmonious with a generous body and balanced acidity. This is a true example of a Patagonian Sauvignon Blanc – try it with fresh fish and other types of seafood.
Franschhoek Cellar Statue de Femme Sauvignon Blanc, South Africa 2021
There’s no wonder this white wine has won the Decanter World Wines Silver Award. It has expressive tropical aromas complemented by capsicum, which opens into cape gooseberry, grapefruit and pineapple. This delightfully fruity palate is balanced by a lively acidity and lingering finish. Enjoy it with prawns, langoustine or creamy mussels.
