Buy Sauvignon Blanc Wine Online

Sauvignon Blanc is a classic of the wine world. Its homeland is in France, but it is now grown worldwide. Sauvignon Blanc grapes can be made into wines of many styles, but the most popular are aromatic, fresh, and dry.

The name comes from the French word ‘sauvage’ meaning wild. It has been grown and produced in France for more than 500 years, but has had a recent resurgence thanks to being introduced to New Zealand in the 1970s. In fact, Sauvignon Blanc is now NZ’s most planted grape. It can now be found everywhere from Chile and California to South Africa and Australia.

We are proud to have a huge selection of Sauvignon Blanc wines available for purchase, including Spanish, and French.

If you live in South Wales, we would love to welcome you to our Cardiff store on Penarth Road. Here you can chat to one of our friendly staff members and they will help you pick out the perfect bottle of Sauvignon Blanc.

Alternatively, all our wines are available to buy online for convenient home delivery across the UK. What’s more, we offer free delivery on orders over £150 and you can save 10% when you order 12 or more bottles. Chin chin!

Where is Sauvignon Blanc produced?

Sauvignon Blanc’s homeland is France, but excellent styles are now produced the world over. These are just some of the regions where you can find fantastic Sauvignon Blanc.

Loire Valley, France: The Loire Valley is the focal point of Sauvignon Blanc production, and that’s both in quality and quantity. The climate of the valley is well-suited to slowly ripening on the vine, which allows each grape more time to develop a perfect balance of sugar and acidity levels.

New Zealand: NZ has put its own excellent stamp on Sauvignon Blanc production. The best ones tend to be unoaked, and combine tropical flavours with lively acidity.

South Africa: Many popular regions for producing this wine in South Africa are cooled by the oceans, so the grapes can benefit from a maritime climate. Others enjoy a cool climate thanks to altitude, combined with a strong sea breeze.

Is Sauvignon Blanc sweet or dry?

The majority of Sauvignon Blanc wines are produced in a medium-bodied, dry style. These are refreshing, easy to drink and with elevated acidity and moderate alcohol levels. These dry Sauvignon Blancs are usually fermented in steel which contributes to their crisp texture.

Sweeter styles of Sauvignon Blanc are rare, and the most famous examples are probably Sauternes and Barsac, dessert wines produced in Bordeaux. These are delicious, decadent wines that can be aged for a very long time.
