Background
The newest wine to be added to the Excellens range, from Marques de Caceres. Excellens Verdejo is produced in Rueda. Rueda is one of Spain’s leading wine regions and due to the shortage of white grape varieties in the region of Rioja. Marques de Caceres decided to acquire 125 hectares of Rueda vineyards famous for growing the verdejo grape. The climate is more continental than Rioja with Atlantic maritime influences making tropical fruits more apparent on the nose and palate. The climate is continental with average temperatures of 13°C and an average annual rainfall of 460mm. The Verdejo grapes are collected during the night when temperatures are cooler ,to keep intact and strengthen their attributes.
