OVERVIEW: ”The President´s Blend is to us a symbol of elegance and the search of the ideal balance. This is possible due to the poise between its aromas and flavors. This expression is reached by combining the freshness of Malbec, the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon and the complexity of Syrah. This harmony is what we call elegance” Matías Ciciani, Winemaker. Escorihuela Gascón.

GRAPE VARIETY: 85% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Syrah.

VINEYARD REGION: Malbec and Syrah: El Cepillo Vineyard, Uco Valley; Cabernet Sauvignon: vineyards in San José, Tupungato.

WINE ANALYSIS: Alc/ Vol: 14,1%.

MATURATION: Malbec and Syrah: aged for 16 months in French oak casks; Cabernet: aged for 16 months in French oak barrels.

COLOUR: Deep violet red with bright tones of purple.

NOSE: Complex on the nose with deep aromas of cassis, black plums, spices and herbs from Provence in addition to smoked undertones, cloves, vanilla and cocoa.

PALATE: Approaches the palate with elegance as it flows sharp and juicy. Fresh and fruity mouthfeel that imposes flavors of wild fruit marmalade, balsamic undertones and toasts that define its complexity. Round and velvety tannins achieve good balance between tight acidity and a kind finish. Long finish with spiced and fruity aftertaste.

Full bottle 1,635 g. 85% Malbec, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Syrah grown 1,150 m asl. Each grape is vinified and aged separately and differently. Smaller oak barrels for the Cabernet and Syrah, larger format for Malbec. Very, very heavy bottle! Gorgeous fresh minty nose! Napeta, salvia, lavender essence. Leafy spice. Dark, rich fruit stencilled into Christmas cake, prune cake. Powerful tannins. Great acidity. This is complex, long and impressive. Better than their varietal Malbecs.  TC)

The Winery

Towards the end of the last century, Mr. Miguel Escorihuela Gascón, a passionate and determined visionary, created one of the most prestigious wine companies in the Republic of Argentina since 1884: Establecimientos Vitivinícolas Escorihuela. From the very beginning, his main objective was to achieve wines of the highest quality. Therefore, special attention was paid to the selection and care of grape varieties, the elaboration under traditional methods and the constant incorporation of technology, with a team of qualified Argentine professionals and the counselling of renowned foreign winemakers and technicians, which makes it possible to maintain a high level of international quality.

Thus, the winery developed throughout time, succeeding in placing its products in a privileged place both in the domestic and in the global markets on a constant basis, achieving a high level of customer loyalty, with consumers adopting our wines once and for all.

Today, after 130 years innovating in the preparation of top quality wines, Escorihuela Gascón is the leader in the creation of Premium and High End wines and is one of the 10 most important exporting wineries.

This Malbec-based blend is a case in point: aromatic, spicy and elegant, with notes of nutmeg and blackberry, subtle oak integration and chalky minerality.’ 2018-TIM ATKIM. 95 PUNTOS.

This is fresh and focused with lovely floral black cherry fruit, and a touch of nice green, as well as a blackcurrant hint. Has some grippy structure under the fruit. 93/100. – Jamie Goode, WineAnorak.com (2019 vintage)
