Champagne Gruet. Historical cuvées of the Côte des Bars
The history of the Gruet house has been closely linked to that of the Côte des Bar for the past few hundred years. This historical Champagne region is home to many charming villages like les Riceys and Neuville sur Seine.
Since 1670, the Gruet family has been established in Buxeuil. Consequently, some plots such as “Bas Gruet “and “Sur Gruet” still exist today.
These winemakers have passed down their expertise from father to son for generations.
This succession was fulfilled in 1975 when Claude Gruet produced his first cuvees.
Today, Claude Gruet and his wife share their love of vine and wines with their son Pierre-Charles.
Even more than imparting their knowledge, they are also transmitting their passion.
Noble grapes varieties and an exceptional terroir
Emblematical vineyard of the Champagne, the Côte des Bar extends over the hillsides of the area.
Between the Aube River and the Seine, from Bar sur Aube to Bar sur Seine, there are more than 8000 hectares of vines, millions of vine stocks and noble grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Arbane et Petit Meslier.
It is in this landscape of water, forest and well-exposed slopes, which allow these grape varieties to grow up to give their best fruits.
