Vior
First produced in 2018 as a small in-house production, Vior has developed a unique place in our wine portfolio. Made with 100% Viognier grapes and partly aged in French oak barrel, its ripe stone-fruit flavours have garnered many loyal afficionados around the world. Bottled under the Costa Toscana category of wine, once harvested Vior passes from steel tanks to French oak barrel for around four months prior to release. Annual Production around 5,000 bottles.

Vinification
The clusters were destemmed, and the berries were pressed in an inert environment using dry ice. The first part of the alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel at temperatures below 17°C. About 50% of the must–wine was then transferred into lightly toasted new French oak barriques, where it completed its sugar fermentation. Malolactic fermentation was not carried out. The wine remained on its fine lees for 4 months, aging in both steel and wood. Bottling is scheduled at the end of winter to allow for additional refinement in bottle.
Soils
A small parcel at the heart of the estate, predominantly characterized by silty sands.
Our History
I Greppi is located in Bolgheri DOC, a small but extraordinary wine region, situated close to the Tuscan coast, just 70 kilometres south of Pisa.
Enclosed by hills, the landscape forms a natural amphitheatre that fosters a distinctive coastal Mediterranean climate. This unique terroir provides ideal conditions for cultivation of exceptional grapes, particularly international varietals.
The lakes
Our unique label features the lakes which border our main vineyard, and these same lakes are also fundamental to the health of our vines. Replenished with rain in the winter, the lakes play a vital role in regulating the local microclimate.
They provide a water source and moderate temperatures in the summer months, whilst regulating extremes of cold in winter. This natural balance preserves acidity and freshness, which is a defining characteristic of our wines, contributing to their vibrancy and elegance.
The Tuscan Coast
Our area of Tuscany is different; not the rolling inland hills of Chianti, but a dramatic landscape telling of ancient settlements and pirate invaders. Our vineyard lies just a few kilometres from the coast, where turquoise waves wash up onto sun-drenched sands, and where shipwrecks from 2500 years ago still guard their cargo of wine amphoras destined for other lands.
Our vineyard
The earliest known winemakers in this area, the Etruscans, recognised the unique potential of this natural amphitheatre, enfolded by sheltering hills, and cooled by sea breezes in the heat of the summer, creating the special terroir that Bolgheri DOC is today.
Just 5 kilometres away, the sea benefits the vineyards in many ways, with its sparkling light supporting the grapes to reach optimal ripeness and develop the harmonious flavour profiles of which we are so proud. We invite you to experience the magic of Bolgheri, and the enchanting Tuscan coast.
