Tasting Notes

This is an organic red Rioja from Marques de Caceres. Bright ruby red in colour, has a floral bouquet with notes of lively red berry fruits. Fresh, succulent red fruit flavours follow in the mouth backed by unique and discreet tannins.

Background

This is an organic wine made by Marques de Caceres and is made to be drunk quite young in comparison to their other red Riojas. Ecologico is not aged in barrel and is made from Tempranillo (88%) and Graciano (12%) grapes, grown on 19-year old vines at Finca de Barrio. Grapes are hand-picked and preserved at cold temperature. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 22ºC and left to macerate from 8 to 10 days. All of the process is done quickly and mechanically in order to obtain a well balanced structure and preserve the wine’s natural aromas. This is an environmentally friendly organic wine made in accordance with principles of organic farming. The plantation also has organic fruit trees planted near the meanders of the River Ebro.
