Background

Marques de Caceres Excellens Viura is a white wine from Rioja created by Marques de Caceres. Made from 100% Viura grapes grown in the vineyards Rioja DOC. The vineyards are around 25 years old with average yields of 50 HL/HA. Unlike their range of red Rioja, the Excellens viura is not aged in barrel, as its intended for immediate release with consumption to be drunk young  to enjoy its greater freshness, acidity and powerful citrus fruits that are best during the first two years. Awarded 91 points in the Repsol 2017 Guide aligning it at the same magnitude as their whole Marques de Caceres range.

Tasting notes

This Excellens Viura Blanco is a white Rioja with pleasant notes of white flowers, and citrus fruit in the background. On the palate there is a hint of apple and pear. A fresh white Rioja with pleasant vivacity in the mouth where the smooth character of the Viura grape comes through to perfection.

Food matching

This white Rioja compliments fish such as scallops, cod and winter salads.
