Tasting Notes
Choosing a great bottle of red burgundy requires knowledge of the grower, the vineyard and the vintage. All three tests are met in this stylish Premier Cru by Mazilly. Cherry red with floral-tinged berry aromas, ripe flavours, silken tannins and lovely length.
Background
Winners of numerous medals in prestigious competitions and with enthusiastic citations from leading French wine guide Hachette, Domaine Mazilly has been among established Burgundian wine estates for several generations. Today it’s run by Frédéric and his son Aymeric who, with entrepreneurial zest, attend to every aspect of the business from vineyard management to winemaking, bottling and marketing. Narbantons is a small Premier Cru vineyard in the Côte de Beaune village of Savigny-lès-Beaunes. From hand-harvesting to gentle pneumatic pressing, the utmost care is taken to craft a quintessentially fragrant and elegant Pinot Noir. The round body is discreetly tannic, full-bodied, preserving its fruit, giving a perfectly balanced whole where the power in just proportions evokes the morello cherries with a beautiful elegance.
Food Matching
Well suited to beef, foie gras, roasted game birds and cheeses such as Brie de Meaux, Tomme and Reblochon.
